How updating works
Trilivy publishes new versions. You decide when your server takes them.
The kinds of update
| Release | A new version with new features, for example 1.01 → 1.02. |
|---|---|
| PTF (fix) | A small fix inside a release, for example 1.01.0007 → 1.01.0008. It never removes anything your own work could depend on. |
Updates are offered from the two previous releases. A server further behind is brought up with Trilivy support's help.
Step by step
- We tell you. When an update is ready for your server, we e-mail your company's contact address.
- Read what's new here, under My servers.
- Check it on your server. In Trilivy, open the menu → Upgrades → Check what would change. It lists every change the update would make on your server, and changes nothing.
- Apply it when it suits you. Type UPGRADE and confirm. The server backs itself up, updates, checks that everything runs, and is back in a minute or two.
- Done. The result shows on your server's Upgrades page and here.
Your changes are kept
| You did not change a file | It gets the new version. |
|---|---|
| Only you changed a file | Your version is kept. |
| You and Trilivy changed different lines | Both changes are merged. |
| You and Trilivy changed the same lines | The update stops before changing anything and lists the file. Undo your change there, or contact Trilivy support. |
| Your own files and tables | Never touched. Keep your own code in the server's custom/ folder and name your own tables cx_.... |
If something goes wrong
Every update takes a full backup first. If any step fails, or the server does not come back healthy, the backup is restored automatically and your server keeps running the version it had. Trilivy is told about every failed update.
